This weekend, I met with two of my mentors. One of them mentioned that he while teaching a class, a student asked , “Sir , how do I overcome fear?” And he replied ,
“Fear can never be overcome, even Jeff Besoz will still think twice about some business decisions he wants to embark because he might be afraid that it will fail “.
And that’s the truth .
Personally, I do not think fear can be fully overcome.
So what do we about it ?
Do it afraid.
Whether you do it afraid or with 100% confidence, the bottom line remains; you have done it.
Another striking thing he mentioned was that nobody is really thinking about you.
This is for people who concern themselves with questions like, “what will people say if I fail?, “what will people say if I start this type of business?”
Hear is another truth, everybody is too busy fighting their demons to start worrying about yours .
It makes no difference to them, whether you start out or not .
So, start in your little corner; fearful or confident; grow your brand, start a business , learn a skill and become a household name.
Afterwards you’ll realize that, there's a lot on the other side of fear.
So if you’re asking yourself , whether or not to start up or learn that skill; in this case, copywriting. I guess you know the answer already.
If you’re considering venturing into copywriting, you need to know the types of copywriters that exist and which particular one you’ll fit into ;
1. Freelance copywriters: This is one who can be said to be self – employed. One who sources for clients and writes copy on a contract basis. They don’t have permanent clients so they have to build a clientele base and do a lot of marketing to stay relevant; staying relevant also involves starting up an blog or writing articles and posting on sites like medium, LinkedIn etc.
2. Corporate copywriters: One who handles all the internal copywriting of a company and earns a salary. A certain form of experience might be needed here (even if it’s experience as a freelance copywriter)
PRICING YOUR WORK
This is always a major issue, especially for freelancers. Borrowing from Neville Medhora’s (Kopywriting Kourse) wealth of knowledge, the easiest way to price your work is to use ‘The Three-tier Pricing Technique’ which involves three levels of pricing – Basic, Advanced and Premium Levels.
Basic level : This is the lowest possible amount that you are willing to charge. This level of pricing is important in order not to scare away clients.
Advanced level : This is mostly the perfect level of pricing for clients because it provides more value.
Premium level : This is your best package and you must ensure that customers at this level get maximum value for money.
Tips for Pricing
Create a pricing list which states the value offered at each level.
Accept all forms of payment methods e.g. PayPal, Venmo etc.
Do not make choices for the client, always attach the full pricing list.
“Has fear of the unknown ever held you back from achieving a particular goal/ dream ?”
